Dual WAN setup protects against AT&T outage
This Monday morning could have been a big headache for American Equipment. Their T-1 on the AT&T network is down. But because they are an Avid Dual WAN client, their network is fully functional over a high-speed wireless circuit, set up for automatic failover in the event of an outage.
Avid supplies both connections to American Equipment. They terminate on our router and we program that router to failover if one of the two connections has problems. Typically, voice traffic is carried on the T-1 and data traffic on the higher-speed wireless link. Right now, both are traversing the wireless link.
So what could have been a painful outage is largely a non-event.
