Avid Now Offering Video Surveillance as a Service!

Avid is now providing high definition, IP video cameras as a service.  Customers can deploy high definition video cameras that will offer live views, recording of all motion, notification of events based on user defined schedules and storage of the video for as little as $10 per month per camera (the cameras can be purchased or leased).

Accessing the cameras and all recordings can be done through an app on your iPhone or Android based phone, or on any device with internet access. All cameras are high definition (720p minimum) with full motion (30 frames per second).  The camera sizes ranges from golf ball, to larger, fully weatherproof 1080p cameras with 3X optical zoom. All that is required is a power source.

Historically, providing this service was restricted by the bandwidth required to capture the video and the disk space required to store the video (one camera recording at 1080p at 30 fps can use over a terabyte of data to store a month of video).  However, thanks to Google Fiber, the bandwidth limitation has been eliminated, and Avid takes care of the video storage.

Avid’s Gigabit Complete service provided a breakthrough in IP voice and data services and we are are now adding IP video surveillance to our product offerings.
